I am thinking of buying a small parrot to start of with I think both of them are really cool but I want to know if I should get a conure, a quaker, or both?????????????????????

Both are good choices, my personal preference is Quaker.

Gabby, my Umbrella Cockatoo, conducting Country music tunes. This bird is a riot. She has really come to life since I adopted her last August. Still a feather barber, the toys that I have given her are beginning to have a very desired effect on her behaviors. She is such a good bird, and loves to be near me. And in the other cage is Scooby, my Quaker adoption. He is coming along well after I took him on last May. This last week he has opened up to me and likes to be on my knee to receive head rubs. Both of these birds talk and it is great to hear them speak out.

My quaker is 6 yrs old about 4 weeks ago she has been squaking non stop shes been a talker i dont mind that. Ive tried everything from giving her ,her favorite treats like pizza and ice creme she always gets time out of her cage and she has non stop attention very loved but geeze the squaking im in an apartment and can hear her 3 stories down im afraid of getting evicted but i want to keep my little girl i just dont know what to do anymore please help me.

Try to find out what she is doing at the time that she is screaming. Is she in the cage, or on the cage? She apparently wants something. It might be just that she wants to be with you all the time. I have an umbrella cockatoo that if he cant see me he will scream. Good Luck

i have one cockatiel. i used to have two but one of them had a heart attack because a car alarm when off when she was sleeping and she like freaked out. i was so sad, and so was my other birdie. i have an extra cockatiel size cage and i want to get another bird to keep her company. i was looking into something other than a cockatiel. i’ve narrowed it down to a lovebird, quaker parrot, or a parrotlet. i will make sure they are fine together before i let them out at the same time to prevent.. uh.. ingeries. no need to worry because they willl have their own cages. but my poor little birdie needs a buddy. which kind of bird should i get?

You should get a love bird because most of them follow their names and are ussually always nice to other birds so they will work fine together if its a nice lovebird.

He just got his dog, and the other day it attacked my bird. How can I get them to get along? The dog is 4 years old, and the parrot, I’m not sure how old he is exactly because we found him.

You can’t, really – the dog has natural prey drive, and it sees the parrot as prey. Make sure you keep the bird where the dog can’t get at it, and don’t let the bird out unless the dog is shut out of the room.
