I am looking for a friend for my Conure, I live in Oshkosh WI, Contract agreement is what I am looking for?

Question by Rose: I am looking for a friend for my Conure, I live in Oshkosh WI, Contract agreement is what I am looking for?
I am looking for a companion for my Green cheek Conure (Charlie), he used to have a female Sulfur Cockatoo (May) as a best friend.
Sadly I had to rehome her, but luckily she went to a good friend of mine, so I at least know she is in good hands.
Anyway let me tell you alittle about my Conure, I got Charlie from a nice couple from craigslist through a contract agreement instead of a fee,
with the promise he would have a permanent loving caring home,
and if anything happened he would go back to them, which I do keep my promises.
I work with him everyday, he is getting very good with talking, he loves to gab, laugh and loves to dance.
I have got him to quit with his biting habit. I hand feed him, so every time I put my hand in the cage he knows he will get a treat. Charlie is a quiet little parrot,
If I want quiet I just cover the cage with a sheet. What I am looking for is something in the size Quaker parrot, Conure, ect.
It would be nice to get one that gabs alittle, but not really important. The bird doesn’t have to have a cage, if it does that’s fine. So if someone is trying to find a home
for their feathered friend. Please let me know I would love to adopt another such as Charlie.
I am looking for a contract agreement, I feel it it better then a fee, anyone can pay money out of their pocket it just doesn’t guarantee a good home. I wonder if their are any rescues that do contract agreements that would be nice.

Even shelters charge a fee. That is the only way they can survive.

Question by Saeed S: Question about Quaker Parrots.?
i just got a quaker and the people that i got it ffrom said he talked and was friendly. i beleived them cuz the guy made the bird kiss him on the lips. so far he hasnt talked or been friendly. its been 2 days. he does take treats from my hand but doesnt want me to touch him. so will he warm up or was i scamed? i got him for $ 250 did i get ripped off?

Answer by cant spell!
you did not get ripped off, that’s is a very good deal. parrots are like no outer pets in the worlds! parrots are usually a one person bird and you have to get there trust, this takes from 4 weeks to 3 months and more sometimes. he doesn’t know your hand is safe yet, you gotta show him your hand is not a threat and he will come near and “test” you he will nibble on your finger and may bite, if he dose bite do not pull away, for this may cause a bad Habit. then you need stick train him. if you really want this bird to love you you will need to spend 2 hours a day playing and talking to him. I had bought a trick and taming training dvd from bird tricks.com its alright it helps a little but good luck and do lots of Research and join some Forms. there videos on youtube to help you earn your birds trust.

Cheeto and Chester Melon Time!

I was video taping Cheeto eating some melon, and Chester really didn’t like the fact that I was taping him… he kept trying to get in front of Cheeto and do things that I generally tape him doing (like dancing and waving.) Cheeto loves melon, which is good because it’s been a small bonding thing for us, since he took to my fiance and hasn’t really liked me. So Cheeto sits on my shoulder while I make the melon, then sits on his cage and I feed him a few pieces (this is huge because he was not handfed raised.) and then I let him eat the rest in quiet. Chester gets his melong and berries too (Cheeto doesn’t like berries) along with the veggies and nutts they both get, but it’s nothing new for him, but Cheeto’s just discovering fresh food. The wing flapping he does is something he does constantly. He will sit on our shoulders and just continuously flap his wings for long periods of time.

Keely on a typical day.

Just Keely being Keely, nothing special. Not to worry, she’s only outside of her cage under supervision and will not become kitty food. Anyways, the cats are afraid of that hooked bill. :0)

my parrot flew away?

Question by flawdakrypt: my parrot flew away?
my 4 year old quaker parrot flew out the cage while my dads friend was taking it to his house in the back of his truck.the lid flew off while he was driving(my dad warned him) and the bird flew to the nearest tree.then out of no where 8 of his kind attacked him so he flew to a other tree and they flew to the next tree an ate the leafs from it an so did my parrot.we no it was him because his feathers from his tail fell off.we put the cage down by the tree and put his treats in it an waited.he moved from inside the tree to the top of it an flew to the wire over the cage .then moved along the cable and acted like he normally would in the cage then in an hour he flew straight going to our house(1minute away) so we drove an looked all over while we were down my st an didn’t see him.so we put his cage out for the night just in case he would see it and he still didn’t come.i don’t mind that he wild now but i don’t want him to get hurt.do you think he can live out there cause we had him since he was4 month. any ideas you might wanna add to getting him back home safe
UPDATE:while i was walkin up the st today lookin for him it just so happen he flew over my head and went on my neighbors tree, then in half hour he flew in the back of the house onto a other tree.we put the cage in our backyard so i dont no what to do now.but the tropical storm is makeing alot of rain right now

Question by Andrea: Aggresive bird?? HELP ? My quaker female bird randomly started becoming aggresive? what did i do? best answrr!?
Ok well i just got a female quaker parrot about a week ago shes ben so sweet up until about two days ago. Every day i tak her out give her treats and lots of attention. what she usually likes to do is go on top of her cage and just chit chat and play with my curtains. Now recently shs started becoming aggresive towards me when i take her out and put her on her cage. she starts making this annoying sqawking and trys to bite me (but it doesnt hurt its like a gentle touch) and its only when i try to hold her. but thn when i walk away she just goes about her buisness she always wants to come out bc shes on her door chirping. am i taking her out too much? is she becoming territorial pf her cage? are females prone to becoming territorial of their cages? anyone have a quaker to relate?? THANK YOU!! PLEASE HELPPPP!!

A lot of quakers is like this they become cage aggresive. You have got to get her off the cage and handle her .Play with her one hour a day show her a lot of love. boy or girl they are the same. You have got to get her trust and love. She will bond with you.
