New Quaker Parrot Gets Acquainted With Family

Category: Monk Parakeets

We got this quaker from an 85 year old lady who could no longer take care of him. He’s quite funny. His name was Chauncy, which I first changed it to Chance. But after this movie, I liked the name CHARLIE better. Sometimes when he didn’t want to step up, he would bite. I would say NO BITE, and he would repeat, NO BITE, I DON’T LIKE THAT. (Ouch Charlie bit me …..) He was also raised with a Cockatoo by the name of Raffle. So he also would make a crying sound and say, DON’T CRY RAFFLE. He also makes a kissing sound and says GIMME KISS. Anyway, I’ll try to get that on a video soon.

@MrBADBOYimage Hmm – that hasn’t happened yet. He talks up a storm now. It’s all he must have learned in his previous home. I have other vids of him talking. I have another male quaker, Kamali – he talks the most, but when I whistle a tune for him, he tries to immitate it – but still loves talking.

hey love the video! one suggestion, you shouldn’t whistle to your quaker parrot. Because this way, they will “excuse” to learn other words and learn easier calls such as whistles. Great video! Beautiful bird!

Thanks, I get a lot of compliments on the quality of this little camera – it’s just a Kodak EasyShare, but does a great job a pics and videos.

You should take a picture like that with the light on only half his face. Nice camera quality by the way!

About 20 – 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 2 bunnies, 2 hamsters, 8 birds, 4 aquatic turtles- and if you want to count the fish – 2 Male bettas and 2 female bettas.

Eeek – so many – but so much love

Quakers are really a super breed – I have 2 parakeets also, and the smallest one, Fidget, keeps getting into Charlie’s cage to visit, but Charlie doesn’t seem to mind.

Quakers can tend to be very ‘cage aggressive’, but Charlie is very sweet.

I have other birds, but Quakers seem to have my heart right now. They are very loving, and such characters. Great personalities.

I would like to have a Quaker parrot someday. Right now I have two budgies, and they are doing fine.

He’s beautiful. I just found your channel. I see I have a lot of viewing to do. So far, it appears you do have quite a zoo. What a privilege to be able to have all those babies around. Do you have enough time to tell me how many you do have? Thank you for sharing.

Right – I loved that video of the 2 kids- the one where the little baby, Charlie bit his bro’s finger. Just had to rename this little guy Charlie – and we try to say it with the english accent.

I adopted a 4 year old Blue Quaker in 2007, I named him Charlie, my house-mate accidentally let him out on 14 November last year, and I guess he didn’t recognise his home from above. I still miss him soo much. He’d say ‘What’s up Charlie? Step Up, Dance (with the Quaker dance) and Good boy!’ Charlie had an infectious laugh. He always knew when I was sick and would stick to me like glue. I can’t wait till I’m well again, and have the energy to love another Quaker.

yes, Charlie does and so does Kamali. I’ve tried to record them, but of course, seems they are camera shy.

  20. icthus777fox on July 18th, 2010 1:53 am

Do any of your birds talk? If they do record them talking.
